DIY Wall Hanging
Happy Tuesday guys!
Today we have a great DIY for you!
We have been obsessing over wall hangings and have bought a few, but wanted to see if we could be thrifty in creating one of our own!
We think it turned out rather awesome! What do you think?
Start here:
Where do you want to hang your wall hanging?
What colors do you want it to be?
How big do you want it to be?
We knew we wanted to:
Hang our wall hanging near our front door. This wall is always bare and we are always looking for something cool to hang on it.
Pick colors that were neutral and add one or two accent colors. We also wanted a variation in yarn size, we wanted beads, and some braids.
HUGE.
After you have thought of these three questions and have planned out your wall hanging, decide where you want to buy your supplies.
We knew we wanted to make our wall hanging out of yarn and so we kept an eye on Hobby Lobby. Before we knew it, they were having a 40% off ALL THEIR YARN!
We went and picked yarn of the colors, textures, and sizes we had previously envisioned.
Our total came to less than $20!
The wooden stick used for this project, Jen has had for many years. It was once a walking stick used in Girl’s Camp that was reused in this project.
If you are looking for wooden sticks of this size and style, Hobby Lobby also has some! They usually come in a bundle of three and are only $14.99!
Then the fun part begins!
Tying the yarn on the stick!
We decided to each tackle specific parts of our wall hanging, but often stepped back and looked at it as a whole. (Look at the pictures below for help in tying the yard.)
Then we got even more creative and added some beads to our yarn and then braided some of the pieces together. We just loved the way that looked!
Long story short, this is a great project to make your own.
It is super easy to be creative and to make a hanging that will look great in any room!
