Malala Yousafzai
Happy Sunday y’all!
This month is Women’s History Month and we are so excited!
We wanted to share a quote today by the one and only Malala Yousafzai.
Malala is a brave and unique young woman who loves education and she has fought for girls and women to have the opportunity to attend school and to become what they want to be.
She is from Pakistan and has written a book, founded the Malala Fund, and has received The Nobel Peace Prize.
She loves education and believes every man and women should have the opportunity to attend school regardless of their culture or gender.
She is incredibly influential and has impacted so many people.
For those of us who have been attending school since we have been young children, we may not realize that other countries do not let every child attend school, especially if they are girls or if they have a job that provides for the family.
Malala has been striving for years to change these traditions and laws so that children can go to school and grow up believing in themselves and their dreams.
While school might not be for everyone, we must remember that others in different countries do not have the freedom to decide whether or not they can go to school.
Let us unite together to make a difference in our part of the world.
Let us teach those around us the importance of learning and how it should always be available for children, adults, men, women, and everyone who desires it.
Guys, I (Jen) am tearing up writing this blog post.
I know that this young woman has changed and will continue to change the lives of many people.
I hope that her goodness and love can influence us to become a little better.
I hope that Tyler and I can be a loving and open-minded family.
We want to understand.
We want to fight for what is right.
We want to stand with those who are being oppressed, hurt, or judged.
We want to make a difference.
Being an undocumented immigrant has altered and inspired me.
It is not my label or who I am.
But because of the treatment I have received, I hope to be different and to make my community different.
We all deserve love, compassion, and freedom.
And today is the day to begin.
