Happy Tuesday all!

We absolutely LOVE sharing our fun, and sometimes weird, little DIY’s with you! We hope you like them and can gain inspiration from them!

The DIY we have today is super easy, but unique!
We all love dyeing eggs for Easter but sometimes it’s hard to find the right dyeing kit that will give your eggs a unique look.
Well, look no further!
These naturally dyed eggs are perfect for those of us who want to have that speckled egg look with beautiful earthy tones!

What you will need:

  • Yellow onions

  • Beets

  • Red cabbage

  • Blackberries

  • Turmeric

  • Eggs: I dyed 12 eggs

  • Vinegar

Directions:

  1. Decide if you would rather boil or drain your eggs. Tyler and I have limited time so we decided to boil our eggs. Make sure you let them cool. I did not wash them before/after boiling them because I loved the little imperfections and hoped the color would be more speckled. But if you desire, you can wash the eggs off with a little soap and create a more even canvas.

  2. Boil your vegetables/fruits/herbs!  Tyler and I guessed on this next part! Experiment with more or less vegetables/fruits/herbs to change the intensity of the color of your eggs!

    - Yellow Onions: 2 onions chopped up in 2 cups of water
    - Beets: 4 beets grated in 2 cups water
    - Red Cabbage: ½ a head in 2 cups water
    - Blackberries: 1 cup in 2 cups water
    - Turmeric: 4 tbsp in 2 cups of water
  3. Add vinegar to your mixtures after they have cooled. We added 1 tbsp per cup of mixture.

  4. Place eggs in mixture and let sit overnight. We let our eggs sit for 24 hours.

  5. Take the eggs out. We decided to gently wipe our eggs dry instead of rinsing them, hence they have such a nice speckled look!

Super easy DIY but so fun!

Let us know if you tried it and if you used any other vegetables/fruits/herbs that we should try!
Tag us in your photos @thewandryway so we can see your final results!

And stay tuned for next week’s DIY where we teach you a super cute way to make a decoration using these naturally dyed eggs!
