Ingredients

  • 1 large bunch of kale washed and dried well

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or oil of your choice

  • salt and pepper

  • other ingredients that you can try adding: a couple drops of Lemon Essential Oil, chili powder, cayenne, garlic powder, or any herb of choice (oregano, basil, parsley, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Wash and dry your kale and make sure that the kale is COMPLETELY DRY. Otherwise you will end up with soggy chips. (I personally buy kale that is prewashed and precut.)

  3. Inspect your kale. Rip the leaves off of the stems and into medium sized pieces. If you bought prewashed and precut kale, just make sure that there are no stems.

  4. Place your kale in a large bowl and drizzle coconut oil (and the Lemon Essential Oil if you would like) over the kale and gently massage the oil into the kale leaves. Make sure that the kale is covered in the oil, this will guarantee a crispy batch of kale chips! If you need more oil, add a little bit at a time so as to not add too much moisture.

  5. Place the kale on a baking sheet in a single layer and sprinkle salt and pepper. Place in preheated oven.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes. Rotate the pan and the pieces so every single one of them can get crispy! Bake for another 10-12 minutes. Make sure they do not brown so keep a close eye on them.

  7. Remove the pan from the oven and let your chips cool for about 3 minutes so they can get even more crispy!

  8. Serve them to your family and watch them disappear!

(P.S. Use these chips as a substitute for croutons in your salad! They add the perfect crunch!)
